Best MRCOG Part 1 question banks in 2026

Four MRCOG Part 1 question banks plus Pastest, one table, every number read from the vendor's own site on 17 October 2026. Pastest is included because candidates search for it: its own guide describes an MRCOG Part 1 resource, but we could not find it for sale on pastest.com, so its figures are unconfirmed. We make Uterio, so this is a seller's comparison; the figures are public and you can check them.

What matters for Part 1: enough questions to cover the syllabus once with time to review, explanations that teach rather than cite, timed practice, and a price that fits a three-to-six-month run-up.

Who each bank suits

Uterio

2,100+ SBAs, £25 / 1 month, £40 / 3 months, £60 / 6 months, £100 / 12 months, paid once. Best for candidates who want to pay for the months they need, learn from explanations that dismiss every distractor, and revise from free syllabus guides alongside the bank.

Weaknesses: no native mobile app yet; smaller than mastermrcog by volume; newer than the established banks, so a shorter track record.

PassMRCOG

1,000+ SBAs; £35 / 4 months, £40 / 6 months. Candidates on a tight budget who want configurable timed tests, a peer-comparison histogram and illustrated revision notes, and who are happy with a smaller bank.

Strengths: lowest 6-month price of the banks compared (£40, against £60 at uterio); timed tests you configure yourself, performance tracking and a daily-updated peer-comparison histogram; illustrated revision notes attached to questions, mapped to the rcog's 15 core knowledge areas, plus topic-based revision sets. Weaknesses: lists 1,000+ sbas: about half the 2,100+ at uterio and fewer than bmj onexamination (1,490); publishes only 4- and 6-month plans, so no 1-month or 12-month option; question writers are not named (the site says practising doctors write and proof-read them).

BMJ OnExamination

1,490 questions; £49.99 / 1 month, £79.99 / 3 months, £109.99 / 6 months, £169.99 / 12 months. Candidates who want a BMJ-published bank with an offline mobile app and the freedom to buy exactly 1 to 12 months of access.

Strengths: published by bmj; mock tests are themed on recent exams and curated by its editorial team of doctors; mobile app with offline access, and a daily leaderboard through group learning; flexible access: any length from 1 to 12 months, in single-month steps. Weaknesses: higher listed prices than uterio at each comparable duration (see the table); a smaller bank by listed question count than uterio or mastermrcog; the product page does not name individual authors or describe explanation depth, so judge both on the free questions.

MasterMRCOG

4,000 Part 1 SBAs (9,000 across Parts 1 and 2); $40 / 1 month, $70 / 2 months, $110 / 4 months, $130 / 6 months, $200 / 12 months. Candidates with several months to prepare who want the largest bank and the most past-exam recall coverage.

Strengths: by far the largest bank, with reconstructed recalls spanning 2012–2026; twenty full two-paper mocks and an exam-like interface; part 1 membership includes all 20 mocks and the full bank on every plan; the only difference between plans is length of access. Weaknesses: priced in us dollars, so the gbp cost moves with the exchange rate and your card's fees; a 4,000-question bank is a lot to finish on a short plan, so it suits longer preparation; authors are not named individually; the app is android-only.

Pastest

1,300 questions plus two 100-question past papers, per Pastest's own MRCOG guide; no product page found on pastest.com; Pastest publishes no MRCOG Part 1 price. pastest.com has no MRCOG product in its shop, sitemap or site search (they list MRCP, MRCGP, MRCPCH, MRCS and MRCEM). Its MRCOG guide, updated 29 September 2026, does describe an online MRCOG Part 1 resource, so check with Pastest how to buy it. Candidates who already use Pastest or want textbook-style topic learning alongside past papers, and who confirm with Pastest how to buy its MRCOG Part 1 resource.

Strengths: a thorough, free mrcog part 1 guide covering eligibility, the syllabus and exam format; per its guide, sba practice paired with 300+ mrcog-specific textbook topics and two 100-question past papers; long track record with the mrcp and other membership exams; familiar if you already use pastest. Weaknesses: we could not find the mrcog part 1 resource for sale on pastest.com, so price, access length and free trial could not be checked; the mrcog guide describes the resource but links to no practice questions or product page; per its own figures, about 1,300 questions: fewer than uterio's 2,100+, if the resource is available as described.

How to choose a question bank for Part 1

  1. Do the free questions on each platform first. Explanation quality decides how much you learn per question, and no feature table shows it.
  2. Count backwards from your sitting. Check the exam dates, decide your start date, and buy the shortest access that covers it. Check whether the plan you pick renews automatically.
  3. Prefer a bank you will finish. 2,000 questions at 25 a day is 80 days; 4,000 is 160.
  4. Use the bank to find weak subjects, then read. Our free subject guides list exactly what the syllabus expects under each heading.

Frequently asked

How many questions do I need to pass MRCOG Part 1?

Enough to cover every syllabus area at least once with time left to redo your errors. There is no official number. A useful check is arithmetic: at 25 questions a day, 1,000 questions last 40 days, 2,000 last 80 and 4,000 last 160, so match the size of the bank to the months you have before your sitting.

Do question banks have real past MRCOG Part 1 questions?

RCOG does not release past papers. Banks that advertise recalls reconstruct questions from candidates' memories. They can show which themes have come up before, but they are reconstructions, so treat them as topics to learn, not answers to memorise.

Which MRCOG Part 1 question banks have a free trial?

Uterio has 14 free questions with full explanations and a timed demo without an account. PassMRCOG and MasterMRCOG offer free demos (MasterMRCOG asks you to register), and BMJ OnExamination gives 10 free questions every day. We could not find a Pastest MRCOG Part 1 product to trial on its website.

Is it worth paying for two question banks?

Only after you have finished one. A second bank in the final month gives you unseen questions for mocks. Two banks from day one usually means neither is completed.

How was this comparison made?

Every competitor figure was read from the vendor's own website on 17 October 2026. Where a vendor does not publish a number, the table says so. Uterio's figures come from our price list and question bank. We sell Uterio, so weigh our conclusions accordingly and try the free questions on each platform.
